Welcome to the Rural Regional Remote (RRR) Practical Legal Training (PLT) Project. The Project is funded by the Australian Attorney General’s Department and commenced in 2008, under the auspices of the National Association of Community Legal Centres (NACLC). The project has been developed to support and facilitate law graduates in securing their Practical Legal Training placements at publically funded legal services across rural, regional and remote Australia.
The current shortage of lawyers in many parts of RRR Australia has major implications for access to justice. In raising awareness about legal needs and legal practice opportunities in RRR areas, the RRR CLC Project hopes to target potential legal practitioners and support them in accessing the diverse and rewarding employment experiences and the different range of clients and legal problems Publicly Funded Legal Services in RRR Australia provide.
The project allows law graduates to satisfy their work experience requirements at RRR public legal services and in the process also provides useful assistance to the host services in return for fulfilling supervisory and professional development responsibilities. NACLC hopes that through this website and program, law graduates will see regional legal services as a great place to do their PLT placements and a real career option!
